Sat 1 Oct, Day 19/61. I love the centre of Seoul so much, it’s definitely now one of my favourite cities. This is the best season in Korea: the evenings are still warm, but not too hot. The centre of Seoul is full of energy and people, but feels safe.

Aeduk & Tabitha
Sat 1 Oct, Day 19/61. Final breakfast in Osan this morning with my kind and generous hosts, Father Aeduk Kim and his wife Tabitha. So grateful to them for the past fortnight. And so now for four weeks living in the heart of Seoul.
That missing BTS YouTube link
BTS chocolate bars
Sat 1 Oct 2022, Day 19/61. As I bought this in a Seoul shop I thought Marathon Bars – sorry – ‘Snickers’ – had once again changed their name. But no, this is temporarily named after a song by K-pop giants BTS, here on video. youtu.be/RvcP6V4h_q4.

Mon 26 Sep 2022, Day 14/61. A great conversation via Google Translate with this resident, born in 1962 to a family presumably already here for 10 years. (When he discovered I was born before him, he adopted the traditional Korean deference to their elders!)
Abai Sundae
Mon 26 Sep 2022, Day 14/61. The families survived by fishing & the village is now known for its seafood restaurants and for ‘Abai Sundae’. Sundae (순대) is traditionally sausage with meat & vegetables stuffed in pig intestines. But in Abai they use squid.
Abai Village
Mon 26 Sep 2022, Day 14/61, I went to experience Abai Village, originally set up to house North Korean refugees. Some of their families still live here. Sokcho was originally in North Korea, but after the war ended up south of the new border.
Bus journey across Korea
Mon 26 Sep 2022, Day 14/61. On Monday I took a solo trip across Korea by bus to the north-eastern port of Sokcho (속초), popular with tourists for its nearby national park, mountains and lakes. But that’s not why I went.
